5th Annual Latino Life Photography Exhibition

Curator: Mabel Jiménez
Artists: Group*

Displayed July 14, 2018 – Aug. 24, 2018

The only ongoing photography event in the San Francisco Bay Area that is dedicated to highlighting the Latino experience, the Latino Life Photography Exhibit, was created and curated by former El Tecolote photo editor Mabel Jiménez as a way of paying tribute to the talent and determination of the newspaper’s all-volunteer staff of photojournalists.

For the event’s fifth anniversary, which was also Jiménez’s final show, the theme was A Look Back. The carefully curated images included not only the cream of the crop from 2017-2018 as well as highlights from years past, or as Jiménez put it: “The best of the best since the beginning of this yearly tradition: vibrant, colorful and action-packed images that reflect both the beauty and struggle of being Latino.”
