Roque Dalton Tribute
Friday, May 12 • 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Acción Latina, 2958 24th Street
El Salvadoran poet, essayist and activist Roque Dalton (May 14, 1935 – May 10, 1975) is one of the most important writers of the Américas. His contributions continue to be relevant today, especially for the tradition of politically charged Latinx poetry.
In celebration of his life we are releasing a special, limited Roque Dalton Tribute “chapbook,” featuring original poems inspired by his life’s work. We will also be screening local Salvadoran-American centric short films and there will live poetry readings of Dalton’s work as well as original work inspired by Dalton.
Featured poets include: Leticia Hernandez, Jessica Mejia, Jorge Argueta, Flavia Elisa, Vanessa Cabrera, Rafael Jesus Gonzales, Roberto Lovato, Nestor Castillo, Josiah Flores. Leticia Hernandez and Jessica Mejia will MC and DJ Lsiete will provide the tunes.
