Fabuloso by Alexander Hernandez

Alexander Hernandez is a mixed-media textile artist showcasing “Fabuloso.” Born in Huajuapan de Leon, Oaxaca-Mexico, and raised in Grand Junction, Colorado, they use their layered quilted textiles to highlight stories from those who are often othered, as well as share personal experiences of being a “chubby queer immigrant living with HIV.”

“Fabuloso” is about expressing body positivity amongst the Latinx bear community, queer men who embrace their huskier or bigger builds. These pieces reject the harmful body expectations set by white, cisgender, homo normative, gay men and encourages to look beyond the Latin lover trope when presented by a Latinx queer person.
