Catherine Merrill, an award-winning artist and authority on Cuban ceramic art, curated this showcase, which was inspired by President Barack Obama’s ground-breaking decision in 2015, to re-establish diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States. ¡Cuba Libre! featured work from some of the island’s most preeminent ceramic and print artists as well as that of Cuban-American artists in the United states who’ve engaged together in a decade-long intercultural exchange.
